Q.1: President Bush recently created the Department of Homeland Security. How important a role do you feel science and technology plays in the country's national security? Very important, somewhat important, neutral, not very important or not important at all?
All (96%) but a very few (3%) Americans surveyed feel that science and technology play an important role in the country's national security - 77% say they play a very important role and an additional 19% feel science and technology play a somewhat important role. This sentiment does not vary significantly across each of the demographic groups analyzed.
