Importance of Science and Technology In Helping The United States Meet Future Terrorist Threats

Question 9

How important do you feel science and technology and their sophisticated tools will be in helping the United States meet future terrorist threats - do you feel they will be very important, somewhat important, not very important or not important at all?

Almost all (93%) of the college students surveyed believe science and technology and its sophisticated tools will be important in helping the United States in meeting future terrorist threats, with two-thirds calling them very important. An additional 27% are of the opinion that science and technology is somewhat important in this regard. Very few (5%) students do not think science and technology will be important in helping the United States meet future terrorist threats.

Not surprising, those majoring in science, engineering, math or medicine are more likely than those majoring in non-science areas to believe this will be very important in meeting future terrorist threats (73% vs. 62%).
