Acoustics

Acoustics is the science of how sound is produced, controlled, transmitted and received. For instance, when you pluck the string of a guitar, plucking the string vibrates the air around it and that creates sound waves. By studying acoustics, we know that when these sound waves reach your ear, your ear interprets them as music.
