World Environment Day/International Children’s Painting Competition
Today’s students represent the next generation of environmental stewards. In partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Regional Office for North America, Bayer is delighted to bring these students an exciting new opportunity that help prepare them for that role.
The International Children’s Painting Competition invites elementary and middle school students ages six to 14 from around the world to learn more about the environment and express that knowledge creatively through art. Through this Bayer-UNEP partnership in North America, the goal is to help students make the important connection between science literacy and the environment, while reinforcing the notion that everyone has a responsibility when it comes to environmental and climate protection.
The International Children’s Painting Competition is a signature program of UNEP’s annual World Environment Day activities. Established by UNEP in 1972, World Environment Day is celebrated each year on June 5 in a different global host city. The theme of World Environment Day and the International Children’s Painting Competition also changes each year.
