A Making Science Make Sense Guide to Sharing Science with Children
Parents are their childrens first science teachers, according to the National Science Foundation. But before you rush out to the library to brush up on your high school science or start thinking about enrolling in a class, know this: parents do not have to have a strong background in science to help our children learn science. Far more important than knowing how a telescope works or the chemical equation of mercury, is having a positive attitude about science. And because science is everywhere -- in the kitchen as the tea kettle whistles, in the bathroom watching a soap bubble, or in the sky as the weather changes -- sharing science with children doesn't require a lot a money or special equipment or even an advanced science education degree.
