Raymond E. Smith is the Vice President of Bayer Business and Technology Services (BBTS), Business Planning and Administration. In this area, Mr. Smith is responsible for the efficient operation of the BBTS organization through various business support functions. His group provides a broad range of professional business services dedicated to the success of BBTS, ranging from the design of business processes, lease and asset management, controlling and order management.
Mr. Smith earned his BS in Business Administration-Accounting from Clarion State University and his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Smith began his career at Bayer in 1980 working for Mobay in General Accounting in Pittsburgh. He held positions of increasing responsibility in the Accounting organization. In 1991, he was promoted to Director of Financial System Development for Miles. In 1994 Mr. Smith moved to Massachusetts after accepting a position as Vice President Finance & Accounting for ChemDesign, an acquisition within the Organic Chemicals business. He moved back to Pittsburgh in 1997, when he accepted a position on the SAP project as the team lead for the Finance and Accounting processes, a position he held until 2000 when he moved into Information Systems as Head of Central Services. In 2004, Mr. Smith became Vice President of Administration & Controlling for Bayer Corporate and Business Services.
Mr. Smith is married and has two sons.
