Importance of Specific Educational Activities to Parents in Helping Children Learn Science

Q.17: Which of the following activities, if any, are important for parents to do to help their children learn science?
  • Emphasize science as an important subject to learn
  • Assist them with science homework or school science projects
  • Teach them informally about science at home
  • Encourage them to learn about science on their own
  • Take them to visit science museums, science centers and zoos
  • Participate in strengthening science education at their child's school

The large majority of the public feel it is important for parents to be involved in each of the above activities in order to help their children learn science. Parents as well as non-parents were in agreement on this issue.
