Effect of Emphasis on National Security on New Job Opportunities in Science & Technology

Q.2: Do you feel America's new emphasis on national security will create new job opportunities in science and technology for today's students or not?

When asked if they believe America's new emphasis on national security would create new job opportunities in science and technology, 75% believe this will create new opportunities for today's students. One in five (20%) do not think this will create new jobs and five percent are uncertain.

Adults under age 50 are more likely than those age 65 and over to believe this will create new job opportunities in science and technology (78% vs. 65%). Others more likely than average to believe there will be more job opportunities in this field include:

  • Adults who feel science and technology is very important to the national security (81%)

  • Those reporting annual household incomes of $75,000 or more (82%).
