Artificial Life

Artificial Life is a new field of scientific study. Artificial Life or "Alife" studies "Natural" life by attempting to recreate biological phenomena from scratch within computers and other "artificial" media. For example: Scientists have created new chemical compounds not found in nature with the help of computers. They use these compounds to better understand natural chemical phenomena and to fabricate new materials and chemicals that are used for industry and technology.
