Myerstown, Pennsylvania

In Myerstown, the local Making Science Make Sense (MSMS) program features Bayer science education partnerships with local school districts. Bayer employees volunteer as guest science instructors, as well as judges for high school fairs. In 2006, the site donated $40,000 for the purchase of science kits for four elementary schools in the Eastern Lebanon County School District. Previously, a $5,000 MSMS grant helped to create the Eastern Lebanon County School District Environmental Center.

The site also sponsors the S.T.A.R. (Students, Technology, Art and Science) program at the Whitaker Center for Science & the Arts, located in Harrisburg, Pa. The program, supported by Bayer since 2002, consists of youth volunteers who bring science to life through extraordinary hands-on experiments, amazing demonstrations and tricky science challenges. Bayer's Myerstown site also provides job shadowing opportunities for students interested in the sciences.
