Dr. Ahmad Soltani

Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer
Dr. Ahmad Soltani is Vice President of Procurement and Chief Procurement Officer for Bayer Business and Technology Services. In this capacity, he is responsible for planning, directing and organizing cost-competitive procurement in the areas of Aviation and Travel, Professional Services, Indirect Materials and Services and IT Procurement. In addition, he leads the Community Council Procurement within NAFTA.
Prior to this position, he served as Head of Inorganic Basic Chemicals, Marketing and Sales for Bayer MaterialScience NAFTA, with responsibility for the product, marketing and sales activities for all electrochemical product sales in the NAFTA region.
Dr. Soltani joined Bayer in 2000 as Director, Global Polyurethane New Business Development in Newtown Square, Pa, and also worked in Strategic Planning and in Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions for Bayer AG in Leverkusen, Germany from 2002 to 2006. He came to Bayer from Lyondell Petrochemical Company, where he was a Senior Advisor, Performance Chemicals and Urethane.
His prior assignments with Union Carbide and Arco Chemical Company include positions of increasing responsibility as Senior R&D Engineer; Project Scientist; Senior Principal Development Engineer; and Supervisor of Propylene oxide, Polyol, Performance, and Specialty Chemical Process and Product R&D. He holds several patents and has authored a number of technical papers.
He received his doctorate in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University. He also holds a Master's of Business Administration with Distinction from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Dr. Soltani is married, has one child and resides in Pittsburgh.
