Dr. Volker Mirgel

Bayer MaterialScience LLC
Senior Vice President, Head of Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties

Dr. Volker Mirgel is head of the Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties (CAS) business unit at Bayer MaterialScience LLC. In this role, Volker is responsible for all marketing and business development activities of the CAS unit’s North American business. He also serves as a member of Bayer MaterialScience’s North American Leadership Team.

Volker started his career with Bayer more than 30 years ago as an R&D manager in the coatings division. Since then he has held numerous positions at Bayer sites in Germany, the United States and China, including technical marketing manager, head of Industrial Chemicals, head of Fine Chemicals, and senior vice president of Chemicals.

For Bayer MaterialScience, he has served as vice president of Coatings for Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America, and senior vice president of CAS Asia-Pacific.

Volker holds a doctorate degree in organic chemistry from the University of Cologne in Germany.

Volker is married, has one son and lives in Pittsburgh, Pa.
