Dr Peter Barschdorff
Vice President, Business Consulting North America

Mr. Barschdorff is responsible for the U.S.-based members of Bayer’s in-house consulting group, Business Consulting (BC), part of BBS (in the U.S.: BBTS). In this role, he collaborates closely with the Germany- and China-based members of BC’s global Management Team. He also participates in BBTS’s Operating Committee in the U.S.
Mr. Barschdorff, who joined Bayer in the spring of 2010, works out of the BC office established in the BHC facility in Wayne, NJ (the other BC office is located on the Bayer campus in Pittsburgh, PA). He manages a team of soon-to-be 30 in-house consultants on different professional levels, recruited from leading business schools and science faculties, from leading traditional consultancies, as well as from within Bayer. His efforts are split between direction and advice to clients and consulting teams, and management of the overall BC NA group, with the goal of carving out an effective operating model for Business Consulting in Bayer North America.
Prior to joining Bayer, Mr. Barschdorff was a Principal in the Life Sciences practice of a leading global consulting firm, based in New York, NY, most recently responsible for that company’s U.S. consulting account at a leading specialty pharma manufacturer. During his ten-plus-year consulting career, Mr. Barschdorff mostly focused on Marketing & Sales, Strategy development, and Organization & Change – ultimately leading him partner with clients driving complex enterprise transformation programs. His project portfolio includes Managed Markets research and analytics, Pricing strategies, Franchise strategy/ global launch, Commercial Model re-design, as well as IT Strategy and Transformation.
Mr. Barschdorff has had engagements with the leading global pharma players; several specialty- and medical device makers; a leading global, Middle East-based chemical company; as well as a leading U.S. investment firm.
Following completion of his M.A. (Diplom) in Political Sciences from the Free University of Berlin (Germany), Mr. Barschdorff held assignments at the European Commission as well as at NATO. He then completed a Doctorate in International Relations at the F.U. Berlin, and later obtained an MBA from Columbia University. He has published about international relations/ national defense, and has presented at industry panels about the consulting profession as well as about healthcare industry topics.
